Please join us to hear Dr. William Guthrie present a program at the Hopewell Museum about the Lenape life in Hopewell Valley and the games they played in ancient and historic times. The program emphasizes games like lacrosse, ball games, snow snake and other sports. There will be related stories and descriptions of making equipment using local resources. Dr. Guthrie is a Professor Emeritus from Rider University and the past Associate Dean of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies of the School of Education. He developed the Natural History Section of the New Jersey State Museum and the Science Center in Amman, Jordan. He developed the Lenape program at the Churchville (PA) Nature Center as well as four videos on Lenape life. The videos were all published and distributed to schools in NJ, NY and PA. This program is free and open to the public and appropriate for all ages. Parking is conveniently located on the street.
